Bored at work...

So I'm working more at work now which basically means on slower days I'm going to have time to look at Sportsline and throw around the bull. I'm a bit concerned that the Braves bullpen isn't doing so well at this early stage of the season. Of course, every team has to go through the wringer a bit through the season, and I'm positive that the bullpen will not be the exact same as it was at the start of the season. Apparently, Mike Gonzalez (Gonzo) is looking good and will be back around the first of June. I won't be surprised if he ends up with the closing role at the end of the season with Moylan and Soriano taking the 7th and 8th. I do like what I've seen from to see him last season against Milwaukee about 12 rows up on the 3rd base side and his stuff was awesome. Of course you all know that he has lost 50 or more pounds since that start and has worked even more on his breaking pitches. I can see him in the rotation next year...he has the stuff to be a #4 guy. Someone who can start and eat up a ton of innings after the top three.
The bench also leaves a bit to be desired. I can't see the Braves holding onto three catchers all year, even if Pena can play first base. I could see Miller getting cut, as well as Gotay to make room for Infante and Scott Spezieo. That would shore up the bench a bit and we wouldn't lose some of the pop with Tex out of the lineup.
Talking about Teixeria, if he walks there might be an interesting person the Braves might get to replace him. Apparently the Pirates and Adam LaRoche have reached an impasse and LaRoche might not be interested in signing with them after this year. Wouldn't it be interesting if we ended up with him again? Talk about a fleecing for a trade if that were the case! Of course, TP would have to work with him on that swing again...too many swings for that sweet swing of his. Here's one more interesting wrinkle to think about as well...Edgar has stated that he wouldn't mind playing in Atlanta again even if it were in a backup role eventually. I wonder if he is able to play 3rd and 2nd as well as SS. Might also be an interesting pickup for next year, but I think that Edgar's got too much left in the tank to be thinking of playing in a backup role just yet.
More later kids!

In an in-game interview during the preseason the GM says he intends on keeping Tex. I hope that's still his plan... and that Tex accepts what we offer.
